Podiatric Medical School Application Tips

🌟 PODIATRY APPLICATION TIPS 🌟

Hey guys! I thought I would compile all of my tips and tricks I learned while going through the application process myself.

1. APPLY EARLY, but don’t rush your application! Applying early provides you the most access to scholarship opportunity. With this said, don’t rush through your application and make sure you triple check for grammar mistakes.

🔅

2. Reach out to you professors writing your letters of recommendation IN ADVANCE! They are busy people and you don’t want to be waiting on that for your application to be approved.

🔅

3. Get a LOR from a DPM if you can! This isn’t required, but it is highly recommended by most schools. Again, reach out early in the process.

🔅

4. Write out all of your experiences and awards in a SEPARATE GOOGLE DOC! Same with your personal statement! This makes editing and revisions so much easier and it can save your work just incase your wifi crashes. Experiences should include both healthcare experiences as well as extracurriculars like clubs, sports, etc.

🔅

5. Do your RESEARCH so that you know which schools you will be applying to! The turnaround for interview invites can be really quick so it may not be realistic logistically or financially to apply to all 9 schools. Each school offers something unique so look into what you want out of a program. I only applied to 2 schools and it made traveling for interviews a lot more manageable (and apps a lot cheaper).

🔅

6. Don’t be afraid to REACH OUT FOR HELP! The application process can be overwhelming and stressful at times so use your resources if you need assistance. The help center on the AACPMAS website can help with whatever problems you may be encountering. I had issues sending my MCAT scores because they misspelled my name so make sure to stay on top of your application. REACH OUT TO ME or other podiatry students because we have been through this process and we will try to help you as much as we can. This is such a welcoming field so don’t be afraid to ask for help.

🔅

GOOD LUCK to everyone applying this cycle!
